Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I pick up bibs/shirts for family members (or can they pick up mine)? YES!
- Am I required to check-in the weekend before the race? We strongly encourage everyone who lives in the Triangle or has friends/family in the Triangle to check in and pick up bibs/shirts the weekend before the race! Those coming from out of town are welcome to check in on race morning. Please plan to pick up your bib/shirt at advanced check-in to make race morning easier for everyone!
- How far is the Kids' Dash? The Kids’ Dash is a few hundred feet within the Ridgewood Shopping Center parking lot. It starts near the ATM at the Ridge Road entrance, turns left after the 5th 3rd bank to the finish line at the big shopping center sign.
- May I register on race morning? Probably not. The race is on track to sell out (with 3,000 runners) in advance for the first time since the pandemic. If the race sells out there WILL NOT be registraiton on race morning.
- May I run with my dog? We love dogs, too, but dogs are NOT permitted on the course. Our event insurance does not permit dogs. In addition, a couple of years ago a runner brought a dog and another runner tripped over the dog and fell. The race is large and the course is crowded. Even a well-behaved dog can be dangerous.
- May I walk some or all of the 8K? Yes, you may walk or run/walk. Be aware, though, that the City of Raleigh requires participants in races on city streets to maintain at least a 12 minute-per-mile pace. If you walk you may be asked by Raleigh Police to move to the sidewalk to complete the course so that streets can be reopened in a reasonable timeframe.
- May I run with a stroller/baby jogger? Strollers/baby joggers are permitted, but we ask those running with them to start toward the back and prioritize safety over speed.
- Is there water available on the course? There are two water stations on the course on the outbound and return sections of the course. There is also water available at the finish.
- Are there race medals? No, there are no race medals for the 8K. (We prefer to spend the money on nice long-sleeve gender-specific shirts). There ARE medals for the Kids Dash!
